Topic: Best "type" of black soap Posted: 31 Oct 2009 at 2:19am |
I keep hearing that black soap is great and honestly i want to stop using chemicals on my face and use more natural products. But i see there are many types of black soap. I used the Raw African Black Soap from Ghana - 1 Lb and i can't tell any difference in my skin. I still break out pretty badly. Will the Dudu Osun Black Soap 6 Pc work better for my acne. also i hear ppl say good things about the ones u can buy from BBS. Even though those are not the real black soap, but if it actually works for the skin i'll be happy. So which gave you the great results? One more thing i read where some say the best black soap is from Nigeria and some say Ghana because it is where the ORIGINAL soap is from.

hey brown ^ Just wanted to reply, because I know about the soap. I know that if you have sensitive skin Dudu Osun can damage it, maybe causing more spots. For some people it works though, I guess it just depends on what your routine is and how deep your scars are.

the one from ghana is best...lol also cause i'm from there.
Dudu osun in my opinion, is not raw black soap...you have to buy raw black soap from Ghana. keep using raw/pure black soap from Ghana and then when ur skin is dry, apply 100 percent alow vera gel...and you'll see a difference trust me.
Oh and even the pure and raw black soap from Ghana, there are differences...the one in a ball shape that is grainy is great but the best one is the tall brown one.(dont know how to explain it, will take pics when I get home). it conatins tons of aloe vera and other pure ingredients to soothe the skin.

UPDATE... Try this Liquid Black Soap...
The fair-trade African Black Soap used in this liquid is handcrafted by
women in Togo, West Africa using a formula passed down for generations
using unrefined shea butter and unrefined palm kernel oil. It is then
blended with organic aloe vera juice to get this liquid form...

All black soaps do not look and feel the same. I've tried Dudu Osun before. It has a fresh smell. I used it for about 2 months --no improvement.
The 'authentic black soap' was dry, brown and it crumbles easily (ball form).
I think I bought it from Nasaab.
Now, the black soap I'm using now is dark brown, soft. When wet, some can be pulled off and it stretches like a super-thick caramel. Its the color of molasses-brown sugar. It will last for about 4-6 washings. It costs me $2.50 at my beauty supply. The packaging is saran wrap, with a paper label. They also come in different scents too.
I forgot the name though...

Hmm, the 'authentic black soap' that i thought i was buying is the soap that you are using now. My REAL black soap wasn't hard at all really soft and looked like super-thick caramel. I wonder was i using a FAKE one.

No. The one you are using is the authentic one. Just because the one I've used before was crumbled does not mean its fake. Like I've said, not all black soaps are the same. Black soap for one is not black. Its brown. Some have texture and some don't like Dudu Osun. Nasaab is a popular brand. No argument about that.

I got the black soap from Ghana off Amazon really cheap. But it is weird, what is that white moldy looking stuff that grows on it when it gets dry?
It's like it helps my skin but also causes a few pimples, but fewer than I get without it. (Although it could be my make-up that is causing the breakouts)
I don't know but something seems impure about it. If I hadn't bought pounds of it, I think I would go back Naasab.
I wish a biochemist type would test it for impurities.

I've been using Dudu Osun black soap for the past 3 months. I use it for my face and also my body. I'm having GREAT results! The BBS around the corner from my job sells it and everytime I go I buy everyone that's out on the shelf. It cleans well but leaves my skin hella dry so when I step out the shower I just oil up with coconut oil then dry off.
I wouldn't mind trying Naasab though.

Yeah i agree i have have just started using Dudu osun and my skin is so dry I can't even believe it. Like if my arm is rubbing up against the table while i am typing it is actually painful because my skin is so dry. No soap have EVER did my skin like this. But funny it doesn't dry my face out at all.

I don't know everybody's skin type is different. Till this day when I use my black soap that I buy from hosiaonline I still need to moisturize. I try not to yesterday morning and my skin was so dry and uncomfortable. I can't wash without putting some shea butter on or something after.

I read that the soap handcrafted by the village women is better. Never tried one and I asked my mother to get me some when she travelled but she got me that Dudu Osun soap and that stuff tore my face and body up. That blasted camwood used to scent it must be the culprit.

I got some that had mango in it, from the BSS it looks like the pure ones I've seen on all the sites that say they have real black soap, my skin is oily and it leaves it feeling a little dry not really bad, I haven't really noticed many results that I thought I would. My skin feels softer and smoother, but I thought it was supposed to fade dark spots as well...isn't it?

real/authentic black soap is not black. if the black soaps you were using were black then it is def fake. Good black soap is dark brown.

There is definitely a difference between the liquid, glycerin bar & African black soap. I like the liquid & glycerin but IMO it doesn't compare to the African. I finally got around to opening my African black soap today. And yep, it's different shades of brown with flecks in it. It stung a bit but left my face squeaky clean. I ended up following up with a toner, emu oil and rose hip seed oil. I need to break out some shea, especially in this season. The other two are good but I'll be using them as a base for my concoctions as well as shampoo.
