Topic: Slipping at WORK! Posted: 29 Oct 2009 at 10:02pm |

Ok..... so I RARELY post but I just have to ask how do yall avoid this? Here's the deal.... i've been a housewife for several years now but recently i've decided to re-enter the workforce......yeah! So i've decided to work for my husband's firm and ALL the women employed there has their eagle eye on me. I've never dealt with maintaining a LF & time management (being employed full time). I spend MOST mornings making sure all is good BUT TODAY DAMN IT ...... my wig began slipping & sliding AT WORK creating a whole new hairline!!!!! I just don't have the time anymore to tweak my hair as I please. How can I avoid this situation again?

That happened to me before and I had to pull some nail glue out my desk and prayed it would hold me till I got home. I was a HAM!
My apps are better and more secure now as I found a good adhesive combo for me. I also check my hairline each morning and touch up at home if needed.
I'd say try a different adhesive combo and take a small bottle of adhesive with you to work!

I pushed my app out 1 day too long today...I walked in best buy and walked out and looked in the rearview mirror and saw my LF sticking its tongue out at me...good thing I found a trusty headband in my attache case...cuz the emergency glue that I have is old (so I learned today) and wont stick fo schitt .

how is slippage possible? i've always wondered this. do you simply just wear your unit until the glue breaks down all the way?

it can be that and it can be the wrong glue for you sometimes.. it doesn't mix with your body chemistry.. then its will slip.. the hot azz sun can do the same thing..

I was thinking the same thing..i think it is different fo some people. For me I can feel it when the adhesive even think about breaking down! I get a tingly itchy feelings and then I remove that same day or the next da

Thanks for all of the feedback ladies! I will certainly keep a headband or matching scarf with me. An emergency kit won't work because EVERY time I go to the ladies lounge... ANY one of the women in the office appears in the bathroom to get a GOOD look at me. Besides, I apply my apps VERY slow & deliberate. If one of these girls caught me fixing my app. I would just D-I-E!!!
I don't know why i'm experiencing slippage.... perhaps because I am under pressure to prove to every one that i'm NOT just the wife of the Boss. In the past i've used Tape only but once I started working again I knew that I would not have the time to reapply daily or every other day. I switched to a combo of glue & tape which I reapply every 4-5 days. I get a better hold BUT it's been a little hard to keep my cool (really) at work.
Once again...thanks ladies for all of your input!

This is what I keep near me at all times. I've had to do touch-ups in public bathrooms, I've learned to work quick to avoid needing to field embarrassing questions.

Oh my goodness. Same thing happened to me and I wont forget the date... Nov 2nd.. It was a cold but sunny day. I was walking around work, doing my thing getting my work done. Thinking I was fine. I noticed a few stares but paid them no mind as I was extremely busy. So my bladder started calling and I took a quick bathroom break. Well as I walked out of the stall and washed my hands I looked up at my hairline and what do I see? I see 1 additional hairline making its way away from my natural hairline. How sad? I cried in the mirror.. Yes I did. Sad story but I did have backup. It didnt work too well though . Anyway, I agree with all of the women and their emergency kits. I gave the wigs a rest though. They defeat me everytime. I only get one good app and the rest are horror stories.

the bandage wrap will stop sliding back. is your wig a good tight fit? when I sew here & there I get a better hold. what type of glue are u using? switch to a different combo.

ive heard people say certain glues stop working after a while. r u cleaning your lace really good? permarite 1+ orwg spray adehsive, hollisters (work for some) ms lola's work for some. daylyn's, vapon, theres a list. try a tape glue combo.... it's good if u can tolerate the tape.
