I've never transitioned so I can't be much help but there are probably going to be challenges dealing with more than one texture. Plenty of ladies have managed to master that so I am sure that you will find plenty of info, probably on the natural hair care forum.

As for how to texlax, check out the how to texturize with a relaxer thread. I will bump it for you.

bump!

i want to know.

I am in the same camp as natie where i was able to grow and keep straight, limp, overprocessed hair.

I want to keep my growth but my new growth is becoming unmanageable!

would it be crazy to texlax or lightly relax the new growth for styling ease?

the rigours of styling my natural new growth is breaking off my ends and my damn nerves! hahaWacko

You could try it. It all depends on the texture of your natural hair. Remember, we all have different textures so it's going to depend on your natural hair. You can texturize or texlax your new growth into transitioning but you will have to protect the new growth anytime you straighten your hair. And if you've never texturized your hair using a relaxer, it does take skills to not bone staight relax your hair. Look for the thread on how to texlax using a relaxer by vkb247, she explains how to texlax in detail.

Good Luck ladies

you know after some though and consideration, i chopped off my measly few inches of damaged relaxed hair and decided to go all natural.

there are a few uneven slightly relaxed ends left, but with some scrunching, you can hardly tell the texture difference.

i was tempted to get the texturizer, but then realised that i wanted to enjoy my natural curl pattern a little longer. apparently  i can always loosen it naturally  and less permanently with things like henna and baking soda . i want to give that stuff a try before i decide to change my unique hair texture permanently!

i hope my own experience ( or non experience i guess) can help other transtitioner make a decision on whether to tex lax or not!
