I have seborrehic dermatits..(i know I spelled it wrong) anyway I only perm my hair every 2 months..or sometimes longer. The last time I permed my hair I had such a flare up that the perm was burning right away and after it was over my scalp was sore.

for those who don't know what it is..it's a skin condition..that can appear anywhere on your body..Mines is on my scalp, eyebrows and behind my ears..it's not curable you have to use the apporiate cream

my question: Is how often do you perm? and what steps do you take to prevent tearing your scalp up?

getting married SOON

Hey!

Wow, I never thought I'd meet someone else with the same problem...I get that too, on my scalp, ears and upper cheeks...

My scalp completely flared up about a year ago when I got my hair colored and I have only JUST got it back into shape, It started to burn so badly we had to wash it off right away, and I had some MAJOR peeling for weeks:(...so I would recommend going to a dermatologist or trichologist first and asking them for their advice..I got the Japanese straightening on my hair about 3 months ago and what I did was use the medicated shampoo my dr gave me for a few weeks prior to the straightening. My scalp didnt burn when I got the straightening, but I did get a few flakes after..I just started using my shampoo again (I wanted to give my scalp a break from chemicals for a while) and its starting to calm down.

I don't relax my hair, but I would say about 3-4 months is a long enough time. And use the most gentle formula they have.
Baby, did you forget to take your meds?
