bullet Topic: Caramel Treatment + Ateyaa Methond
    Posted: 11 Oct 2008 at 7:38am

I have natural hair 3b or 3c, last friday i decided to try both the ateyya method and the caramel treatment on my hair......

i let the treatment sit on my head for an hour ...washed it out and continued to do the ateyaaa methond....it has been a week and my hair has not once started to revert..and im worried...lol my hair with a flat iron has never lasted it would either revert the same day or the next day...

i read (after i used the treatment of courseAngry) that some women had lost their curl pattern after doing the caramel treatment it that true?

my hair is bone straight and silky and soft and shiney..so i got excellent results..but are they too excellent?..it feels like i permently straightened my hair..a part of me want to wash it out but another part of me wants to see how much longer will it stay straight..lol

I don't think the ateyaa method would permenently straighten ur hair since there is a lot of heat protectant involved... I use the ateyaa method on m natural 4a hair and have no issues...

I don't think she's worried about the Ateeya method, it's the caramel treatment that some people's hair require a lot of time to "bounce back" from.  There is a thread down in the natural hair forum about this. Geminisun had an experience where her hair didn't regain it's curl pattern (in addition to some heat damage incurred after the treatment) and she eventually cut her length. However, there are others who say don't freak out and cut your hair just keep waiting and the curl patternw will eventually return.

PLEASE remember to refer to the NATURAL HAIR 101 thread.

Last relaxer - May 23, 2008 | Transitioned for 12 months w/o direct heat | Big Chop - May 24, 2009 | Link to blog on my profile page

^^^ I was wondering the same thing. I have 4a/b also. I might have to do a search on the caramel treatment for more info. Is it a natural way to straighten the hair like a relaxer?
There's more than what meets the eye...
