 I love these books:
Naked : Black Women Bare All About Their Skin, Hair, Hips, Lips, and Other Parts.

The Color Complex : Totally dissects the origin and history aswell as the continuation of Color struck people.

The Darkest child :Still reading it, not completley about color or hate because she is dark; it is a Southern Based Pre-civil rights era setting. It a great read and I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Memiors of Geisha- Trust me the book is way, way WAYYYY better than the movie. I read the book before I saw the movie and felt the same way as I did after watching Waiting to Exhale vs the book: ROBBED. The plot is about more than just a love story. The scenes are so vivid...::sigh::

When the Wind Blows-James Patterson. This was an unexpectedly good read for me. I couldn't put it down.

Lake House- James Patterson (the sequal to When the Wind Blows) It's a good read, especially if you liked the first. But like most sequals to me it fell kind of short.  But not horribly. I'd give it a B-

Body Farm- Patricia Cornwell  If you like CSI you'll love Patricia's cornwell's books!!! Body Farm was an awesome crime scene triller. The plot twists for me were great. I've read most of her novels though and they are all worth the read.

Jubilee- Margaret Walker  It's a wonderfully written pre to post civil war novel depicting the life of a house slave. I'm a total American/ Black history nerd so I loved it. It's a huge book but every page is worth turning.
Rep your set.

I have to agree with that Naked book above . . . I've read it 3 times already.

But there are 4 books that I'd recommend ALL black women to read:

Longing To Tell: Black Women Talk About Sexuality and Intimacy (I've read it 3 times already and I will be starting it again soon)

Sometimes Rhythm, Sometimes Blue: Young African Americans on Love, Relationships, Sex and the Search for Mr. Right

Sister Gumbo: Spicy Vignettes from Black Women on Life, Sex, and Relationships

Mister Gumbo: Down and Dirty with Black Men on Life, Sex and Relationships

Other than that, I loved the whole Brown Sugar series, anything from Erica James and Lesley Lokko.

My favourite book of all time though is Someone to Catch My Drift from Jacqueline Powell . . . wonderful read.
My Target Dress for Summer 2009 . . . The streets of Toronto better watch out.

I am going to go with "The Coldest Winter Ever".  I read this book and I have not stoppes since.  There are so many great books out there.  Another great book is "A Piece of Cake" by Cupcake Brown.

P.S. - The follow-up to "The Coldest Winter Ever" is due out end of summer ("Midnight")
