I love the way the man worded it. Would you rather gamble living your life believing that there is no God, only for you to die and find out there is after its too late to repent and receive salvation?
Or live your life believing that there is a God, and find out that there isn't one. | This premise is skewed. It assumes that atheist = amoral. It's possible to follow many of the bible's concepts (don't lie, don't steal, honor your mother and father, do unto others) and not actually believe in God. Not to mention, that it takes a LOT more than just belief in God to heaven. |
and wouldn't god know you're full of it? that you're not there bc you love him but just cause u know..whatever? if i was god i'd be like girl bye and point you to the exit stage left

I do believe the Bible instructs on how to be more of a good person... more Christ-like.
But that it's subjective I see, not everybody in here believes God is good.... so I'll leave it at that

Ahhhh...I like that answer. It is OK that a lot of us do not believe...Many of what we have learned comes from religion. I can read the Bible and find countless gems. Thank you for answering.

It makes a lot of sense if you skip the bad parts . Ancient writings like the bible used to be the keeper of laws, now its the supreme court. I don't have issues with the instructions that are moral, just the ones that are immoral like forcing a woman to marry her rapist and stuff like that. Society did a good job of separating the good laws from the bad ones to create the justice system. There is still much work to do but good job either way.
Its sad that only 10 of the hundreds of laws they wrote in the bible were serious enough to warrant any kind of fame. Even in that 10 some are still like whatever for me .

I read a cracked article a few nights ago talking about books of the bible that were removed due to being "too awesome." I swear that article had me dying of laughter. I wanted to post it on here but Ion like ruffling feathers.

oh ok Rumbera just asked a similar question
I see what you're saying but I dont feel like I've been scared into believing.
There might be those that do feel like I have to do this so I won't burn in hell.
I don't think like that.
God has done enough in my life for me to believe He exists. Just like I said even if there is no heaven and hell I would still keep my faith.
|
thats good. but you shouldn't advise anyone to believe in god without loving him. if someone isn't ready to have god/jesus in their heart then there is no need for the other stuff

i watched a 4 hour documentary about the books kept out of the bible. it was interesting. anyway i like when church is nice and positive and isn't castigating anyone. i enjoy reading the bible--favorite verse is Ps.1:1-3..they sound so lovely in french.
