when i flat iron my hair i get great results in the front but in the back where i can barely see i neglect it. so for to press my hair and then go over it with a flat iron to get the silkier look. i follow up by wrapping my hair and when i un wrap it my hair is super straight. Also I blowdry my hair very straight otherwise if i try to air dry and then press i will be in pain. I have lots of hair.

Since this will be my first cold season incoporating heat into the reggie to keep these SSK's at bay, I hae been researching straightening techniques and the like. I have attempted to straighten my hair before, but with lackluster results. I think I found out why.

Last time I attempted to starighten, my hair was too wet which caused very wavy roots and my hair wasn't fully detangled either. So, last night, I M&S'ed clean dry hair and plaited Cleo in 8 Celie plaits. The moisture came from my conditioner and leave in. I wasn't heavy handed as I usually am, but my hair was moisturized. My hair is now fully dry. Later, I will unravel each plait, comb thru to make sure hair is fully detangled. Then, I will take the blowdryer with the comb attachment(on low-med setting) and straighten my hair more. Last, I will flat iron. I think I will get the desired look I'm looking for. HopefullyLOL

I flat ironed my hair yesterday and got really really good results. Usually I shy away from using to much heat but this time I wanted a bone straight look so what I did 1st and formost was condition the heck out of my hair and applied a leave in and water based heat protectant.
Then I blow dryed(with comb attachment) on medium in sections (roughly 16 small sections) after blow drying it on med and the whole head was done I then sprayed it with an oil based heat protectant and turned the blower on hot and just went thru the entire head briefly to take away some of the poofiness.

Then I flat ironed/ comb chased  small sections, using the comb allowed me to only have to pass the iron thru each section one time. It also got my hair super straight. After flat ironing I took a lil grapeseed oil and just ran it over the surface of my hair and on the ends.

Hopefully I can maintain this for at least another week.

I get a dominican blowout every 2-4 weeks. Before I go to the salon I prepoo with aloe vera juice and mizani thermasmooth conditioner. Then after they shampoo and dc my hair, I get them to use chi silk infusion for my rollerset. I have been natural for a year and a half and I got my hair blown out gor the first time in January. Now im hooked

hi i'm new, wanted to know how often everyone flat irons? I used to do it once every 2wks but now I do it once every one week (because my hair changed...sorta).
I've been trying to grow long hair for the longest time now and stopped getting texturizers 3 years ago. I've been flat ironing since and trimming maybe once every 2 months. But I tried to go 'truly' natural around april and chopped off a good 3 inches (I did a month of braid-outs and such) and my scalp was so dry and my hair so tangled I couldn't take it so I went back to flat ironing but my hair changed! I've also changed some products (I used to use dax pressing oil but now I use a mix of things) BUT now my hair has been sooo dry and rough. I don't know- I thought I was doing the right thing (shampoo/deep condition, tea tree oils, jajoba and lavender oils, heat protectant spray and the IC serum- not all at once but I try to interchange them).

So because my hair has gotten so dry and rough since going back to flat ironing I returned to my dax oil this past week but my hair doesn't feel the same. I feel like my hair used to be so much healthier last year when I was ignorant but now that I tried changing some things thinking it'd be better I think it got worse. I might go see a dermatologist soon.

But I like all the suggestions in the post and seeing the different routines. Everyone's hair is so beautiful- I hope one day my hair could look like that. thanks!

If you ironing your hair daily then you have to care about some things that your hair can't be damaged. For this, wash your properly.Deep conditioning with good conditioner.Use some big braids for stretching your hair.Apply good heat protectant. No more use after the two passes.
