You can have your preferences, no problem. But don't think you are gonna roll up into any and everywhere and actually GET what you want. That is unrealistic. And sex partners is a FAR cry from the point THIS woman is making with her lawsuit.

I sorta kinda understand both sides in this thread, however given the history of this country with race relations there is always going to be tension when making these kinds of request...I don't feel like going on,but yea

I don't recall posting anything about this lady. All I remember saying is, I, as a nurse, wouldn't have gave a fck. I've been in the medical profession long enough to know I don't like being called Brotha Mans and deal with sh*tty patients, even the non-racist sh*tty patients. I wouldn't have sued, I would have moved on to the next baby. And I know I wont get what I want every time, but it doesn't hurt to try. I can deal with most of the time.

I have been in this nurses shoes. It pissed me off, but I dgaf about caring for these racist asshats anyway.
But I will be DAMNED if I will let my employer support this kind of bs in such an overt way, as to have a fukin note left around as if its ok. So much wrong with that, it is a slap in the face. That is the issue.
Where was the ethics commitee? Where was the CNO? Where was the hospital president?
The man had a choice, but by the time he got to the NICU, his choices were limited. Wtf would he do if there were only black nurses on duty? The same thing happens to male nurses, and that is bs too.

is it life or death? If so, they may want to consider talking to a medical professional. I am all for doctors refusing certain care for their personal belief. ^^^^I don't have any idea what this is trying to say/do.
I just think I should be able to chose a care giver for because of mine. You can, if you are gonna write the check directly to said chosen care giver.

Sickening...he better hope his baby don't code and a black nurse who will grant his wishes is there by herself | Right!!!!! This man can choke on a dck and they were fools to entertain this bullshyt. Race is something entirely different than sex when it comes to care involving genitalia and other body exposure. That is the only clear form of segregation no one has an issue with and that is upheld in gov or private institutions and public places everywhere...bathrooms. So it is already engrained in society, there's precedence for it. The law is clear on things regarding racial discrimination.

first bolded: I agree and said something about the note second bolded: that wasn't the case and in essence it wouldn't matter. We told our patients that we will try to meet their requests, but in the case of an emergency or if we didn't have anyone available, we'd have to send who we have. He may have been told something similar.

I work as a LPN . I hope she wins . Give birth in the busy ER i work in and get back with me Sir white man . You are lucky to encounter a Physican that speaks clear english . Residents are the norm . I will be happy to retire and stop paying so much for my Malpractice Insurance . I advise all ages to put your wishes in a directive at your local hospital and with a family member you trust . I help save the lives of many racist folks and will continue after taking a oath from my heart . Don't get me wrong. People calling you a NB while you are trying to put a tube in the person can be a challenge .

I used to work at a nursing home when one of our patient's families didn't want any black nurses or cna's caring for their member.
But the place didn't comply and the family moved her to another facility. These people are a trip with their bigotry....smh

How disgusting/sad is that someone would refuse life or death help for their baby based on skin color?
I would just imagine if your baby is in the hospital that long, you should be focused on help PERIOD, and not picking and choosing who can help your baby.
