One is a statement of fact, the other is a racial slur....
The correct comparison would be
fat girls vs black girls

They're both discrimination when put on a receipt though, no?

Black girls, if written on a receipt is discriminatory? what about white girls? or old ladies? How do we decide what is a descriptor and what is a slur
I don't disagree that what was written on the receipt was offensive and wrong, I just don't think it should be compared to say had they written n!gg@
I think that lessens how offensive the term n!gg@ actually is, given the history etc.
N!gg@ is an offensive term for black people... there are lots of offensive words for fat people, none of which were used.

Might not be a good comparison, but when that next receipt has the 'N' word on it, can't do anything but shrug if you're laughing one prejudice slur off, and not the next.
Hop, skip, jump away from going there in most cases. I know tooooo many people that were getting chuckles at making fun of clothing, hair, complexion, etc., and it made them brave enough to venture into race, and suddenly the laughter stopped.

I see your point "lessens how offensive...."
but fat, though a descriptor, has a very negative connotation.....why do you think so many have adopted the term thick to describe what is really, well fat?

The person that said this needs a dictionary for Christmas and a lesson on similes. Comparing the use of the word 'fat' to using a pejorative?

Would it have been discrimination if the receipt had read "redhead girls"?
