I agree. I think she probably calls him that because he's different from her. Nothing good, nothing bad. And I assume her comment is to be read in a "awww look at the little baaaaby" type of voice. Lol, I don't know how to describe what I'm saying in text, but most people should know

This is one of those things u say in ur own home and not publicly.
My baby is light and I'm dark. I always thought my baby would b dark. It's comical to me that we look just alike except for skin color. Sometimes I call her my little light skinned baby in the most ratchet voice possible. It's a joke. I have no color issues at all. I've always been praised. My baby is beautiful to me. Part of her beauty is her skin. Part of my beauty is my skin. I'm sure fanny meant it as a look-at-the-obvious kind of thing.
However, due to the color issues that I know r prevalent in the black community, I would never say that in public. It's too open for interpretation by people who don't know me or my beautiful colorful family.

She should have just referred to him as caramel or vanilla wafer instead of just light skin, then people wouldn't have gotten so alarmed

lol at expecting fantasia to do better she has no education and is illiterate but she just so happened to sing what dd we really expect?  she seems to have the mental maturity of 14 year old
