My facebook friend, who is in the army, is pissed about this picture and attached a long comment to it about how he is risking his life to protect our freedoms and this man should be grateful etc, etc.
I'm really on the fence about it. Especially since this friend is a black male. I can see both sides but I'm sure trying to explain the guy-in-the-picture's stance to anyone in the military would be like talking to a brickwall.
I've had discussions with my bestfriend (who is in the air-force) about how I'm not completely sure what freedoms our troops overseas are defending and its more likely they are being used as political pawns. I try to have these discussions in the most respectful way possible because I know how strongly people feel about these type of things. I really don't understand military pride and sometimes I wish I were more patriotic. But I feel like in order to be that I would have to pretend to be willfully ignorant to whats really going on.
What yall think about this kind of thing?
