DO NOT look at other naturals hair and expect your hair will look like that or your hair can do that.
there are many things my hair just can't do and you have to find what works for your texture.
i can't hold twist in my hair for very long and my hair usually looks like i'm homeless after a few days of wearing twist and other naturals can wear twist for a full a week and their hair looks super neat.
it's just something my hair doesn't do very well but there are other things it does better.

Great Thread! Bunnie, I'm not sure if this is the link you were talking about earlier, but here is a Scab Hair 101 article that I found with a picture that helps to explain it (I learn better with pictures). http://coarsehair.blogspot.com/2008/11/scab-hair-101.html

Carib...yup, it's a trap to think that your hair is going to do just like another's hair. It doesn't work that way.
Prtyprinces...thank you for the link!!! I always think visuals tell a story better

Hey kcsunshine, which link?
xrae, congratulations on going natural after h.s. This board and other boards carry a wealth of informaton and sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. You have to really pick and chose what works for you and stick to it.

Luckys, it does take time to get to know your hair. I am just in my second year and I am still listening and learning. Just keep your moisture/protein balance in place and everything else will fall into place...I promise
