Hey All,

I just turned 29, and I have yet to ever really enter a real relationship or even have a "dating life." I had a boyfriend briefly when I was in high school, but that basically consisted of me driving him around because he didn't have a car LOL

In college I was in a bunch of clubs and leadership positions, but it wasn't until senior year that a guy even paid me any mind, and it was one guy.  However, that ended up being a dead end because I was moving back home after graduation.

After college I started my first job and the only guys I met were the jokers who  would holler at me from their stoops as I was walking to and from the bus every day. I went to a bunch of meet up events and made a small group of friends, and went on a couple of dates with a guy I met at a meet up, but we weren't compatible so it ended.

I'm back in to school to get another degree, and the majority of the men in my class are engaged, married, or still in their party phase. I don't have much time to get out around town since school requires so much time, and I don't know anyone here besides my classmates. Seeing how many of my classmates are engaged/married has made me anxious because I have barely even dated anyone in the past.

I joined OK Cupid, but I was getting so many messages from people who were only looking for hookups that I deactivated my account after a few days. I know that everything happens "at the right time" so I shouldn't be worried, but with all of my female classmates talking about their dating/married lives all the time, i feel like I'm the odd person out.

Any suggestions on how to start dating later in life? Feel free to ask me questions if you need clarification on anything!

Since you have zero dating life experience, you might as well pick up some books on dating to prepare yourself and know how to recognize a player. There's a thread about it in this sub-forum, so buy the books on amazon and enjoy your reading!

I can relate to what you are saying. I would encourage you to try OkCupid again just to get out there and meet diffferent guys. Yes guys are there for hookups but you just have to weed through them. I have met guys from OKCupid and I have even been on some fun dates, however nothing serious has come from them but that was my decision. It'll get easier once you get out there and most importantly have fun!

Also try the dating app coffee and a bagel it pairs you with one guy a day from your friends on Facebook. It seems interesting. Also try plenty of fish but it is known for its hookups too.

Have you tried anything new dating wise?

Another thing you may try is friends of the friends. Many of your friends bf/husbands have friends. Maybe they can hook you up on dates. I'm 29 I have had 2 serious relationships that ended. I wish I had dated more but once committed I stay invested for years. However, I do want to know what dating truly means as far as going on and having fun intellectual conversations or dates without expecting anything in return.
