Hi!  I have a beautiful mixed almost 3 yr old granddaughter that has extremely dry, thick, kinky hair.  When wet it is 4-5" down her back, but dry it looks about 1 1/2".  I only comb it wet to help keep down the breakage but that is hard now that the weather is getting colder.  I hate for her to go out in the cold with damp hair.  If it is blow dryed it is poofy! Even with a diffuser.  We use products with no mineral oil and use a lot of moisterisers but without good results.  I am white with extremely straight oily hair so I have no way to know what to do.  We have no contact with her father or his family so we don't have anyone to go to for help.  When fixed we have so many compliments on her hair and how beautiful she is but every morning it is WILD and sticking out everywhere. ( *My daughter won't let me braid it at anytime)  We have tried many shampoos and conditioners and haven't found the right one yet.  I only shampoo it once a week but put leave-in conditioner on it constantly.  I deep condition it often.  She is a beautiful child but we are worried that when she starts to pre-shcool and naps she will wake up to an awful lot of teasing due to her out of control hair.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am new here but I use the following products for my daughter's hair.  I wash it with CREAM OF NATURE SHAMPOO AND CONDITION IT WITH CREAM OF NATURE CONDITIONER as well.  Once I wash it I comb a product called LIV through her hair while it is still wet.  I find that if I section there hair off and apply the LIV to the hair and scalp it retains it's moisture level for about three days.  When I style her hair daily I apply the LIV to her hair along with B AND B OIL MOISTURIZER LOTION.  They sell all of these items at Walmart with the exception of LIV which I get from Sally's Beauty Supply.  The LIV is really a good product for moisture for natural hair.
