I have experienced the same problem before... Whatever you do, dont use anything with oil in it. Oil will most likely make you pass out. You wanna use a moisturizer that is a water base... Something like Clinique Moisture Surge, Bobbi Brown Hydrating gel cream, Garnier Moisture Rescue... something that basically that will give the skin an instant boost of hydration.

I personally used the Clinique one, I have been using it now for a year and I did not go through that dry discomfort like I did last year.

I hope this helps.

@mslitta, thankyou and I have been hearing good things about clinique. Also, what do you mean about not using anything with oil in it? Do you mean products with oil and/or olive oil, castor oil, etc. I have been putting evoo on my face with my damp hands to prevent it from getting dry and flaky

this happens alot with "oily" skin the oil your skin produces is made to push the dead skin cell to the surface so the more oil your skin has the more deed skin is gonna to pull to the surface , so your skin may appear dry on the surface but oily to the touch ( this happen to me all the time esp. in the fall and winter) exfoilate your skin  regularly and use an oil free moisturizer everyday s

I got a facial today and I had no idea I have oily skin. She recommended a blemish control serum to put on after cleansing and before moisturizing.

Missdezy you can use products with oil in it but you have to be careful. Over production in oil is what causes break outs. If you feel you dont break out from oil continue to use oils. EVOO broke me out. It was clogging my poors. I steer clear of anything with oil in it, even with shea butter. I prefere water based products because my skin is more likey dehydrated versus dry. I dont drink much water, so those moisturizer that boost your hydration work wonders for me. I hope that helps you.

Olive Oil, Jajoba Oil, Almond and sesame oil are some oils I would recommend. Castor oil, not to sure about... Maybe some one else can fill you in on that oil. I feel like I read somewhere that that cloggs. But then again, it depends on your skin.

Since you have been using the olive oil, how is your skin?
