i also think also he possesses a great deal of (quenstionable) intelligence but lacks insight on social matters. i would also peg him to be inartiuclate on such matters

the knowles carters do make for wonderful headlines and scapegoats

agree 100%

I just think when the entertainers stan for the others it undermines everything we as a community try to do. I hate when an important topic comes up and whites/media point to or look to entertainers for insight.

And a lot of kids do look up to these ppl, quoting them and following their lifestyle. Sad but true. The entertainers either need to come into the fold of unifying the black community or we need to.stop supporting them to ley ppl know he/she does not speak for me

Oh and great article, hs said exactly what i was trying to.say before. At this point in certain entertainers careers it wouldn't hurt them one bit just to take a stand. No one is asking for a speech but stop picking and choosing when you want to be considered black.

Y'all might be right.  I do feel like Jay ONLY came out support gay rights because the president is very clear on his position.  If the president starts to discuss Trayvon and black issues in a meaningful way and THEN Jay and Bey start making statements they are official opportunists.  Not that we need proofLOL

Even though entertainers aren't obligated to do anything for their communities, I will agree with this article.. Jay-Z needs to go get him some "act right" and show a little more respect for a man that was a part of the movement that allowed his camel-face behind to be where he is today.

I mean it's not only blacks that are angered by this verdict. People of all races and nationalities are. It's just that blacks are affected the most by racial profiling and targeted by racism the most.
