I've only been to one funeral, but that was all I needed.

When my great uncle passed, his sister began cursing and screaming at the funeral because he was being buried a wool suit. She said that the suit was too thick, and that he'd be too hot Ermm. She was promptly ushered through the doors.

Went to my aunt's funeral in Albuquerque, New Mexico this past Thursday. This one lady read the condolences sent from friends who couldn't make to the funeral. After she read it, she tripped over the chord to the microphone and almost fell. I wanted to laugh at the time but I was grieving.

My friend just told me this funny story:

Her mentally delayed 50 year old cousin who roams the streets of our small town always wearing on sale pastel church clothes with green or orange shoes (because u never know when someones going to die or if you're going to die), ran up to the casket during the funeral. It was her great grandmother who used to b the one to hush him. He said she was the only one who used to let him do him. her dad rushed up to her cousins and said drag him out. Terrible.

Ratchet poems, hood liturgical dances, messed up/inappropriate love songs/gospel hyms...I've heard them all!

I have been in the public school system for years, and unfortunately I've seen a lot of young people pass away. Back in the...early 00s, I want to say...a young man who was in my class at one point was murdered. Some of his friends and family arranged a liturgical dance in his honor...to the tune of R. Kelly, "I Wish (Ni99er Remix)." The dance itself was a fustercluck on its own but the accompanying song just sent it over the top. Half of the congregation swayed back and forth, singing all the lyrics (replete with the N-word), while the other half sat there with our jaws to the floor.

My grandmother gave explicit instruction that none of us were to do the fool or she would haunt us forever. She had everything pre planned down to her suit and who was to do her makeup. She told us to act like we had some damn sense and we better not show our asses. Even in death she scared them into submission.

Not to say there was no foolery it just didnt go down at the funeral, there might have been a break in while her husband was called to the funeral home to make some arrangements. That call MIGHT not have come from the actual funeral home. Someone who resembles Grace could have had a key and gave it to our uncle Timothy who took a list of the things we wanted from the home but were being held hostage by her evil husband. CryCryCryCryCry
