Yes but he already had a large fan base to support him. He wasn't like Wale in '06 or Dom Kennedy in '07 when it was just us NTers listening to them. Drake was already well established

jr.

he still had to get past the stigma of being wheelchair jimmy and being perceived as not street enough to even rap.  it's the same thing child actors go through when they try to transition into adult films.  During the scream tour like hella yrs ago(before best i ever had was on the radio) when he came out to perform with lil wayne a lot of ppl were clowning.  he didn't come from the projects or the stereotypical single mother home but it's not like he got in through nepotism.  he worked.

there's a difference between non existent street rep and solid proof that u were on a tv show...it's harder.

plus he's a funny looking half jew that talks like...hmm...a "white guy"?

It really isn't. It was a tv show. It had nothing to do with real life. Ppl aren't that dumb.

it is real life though because it means that he was making a little money and all of his strife was really emotional, not economic....that is what ppl criticize him for all the time...his "sensitivity".

So you're admitting that ppl already knew about him. You see what you're doing?

I don't believe that bottom needs to be defined differently for everyone.  Nothing wrong with not starting at the bottom. Working hard and Difficulty/taking time in reaching the echelons of your craft does not equal starting at the bottom IMO.

i already said people knew of him which is why i mentioned the stigma...everyone doesn't think favorably about Degrassi or even watch it...and some who do saw him as a certain character...that's a fact of the business for any performer.  going from a soapy teen show to hip hop artist makes it harder to be taken seriously.
