it breaks my heart, and she's 24 and so depressed over it. we all have dreams and aspirations, but we must make financially sound decisions along with them.

well my niece went to school for fashion something-or-other in minnesota for a two years, then she moved here and went to some school in chicago and earned her 4 year degree. tens of thousands of dollars later, she has done seasonal work at area macy's and currently works for merry maids for minimum wage.
my question will always be, if you graduate and do not have insider connections, how likely is it for ou to get a decent paying job that pays your bills and allows you to have some sort of life.
whatever you do, keep your dreams, but use your head to attain them.

definately. make sure you have a back up plan OP. I have friends that had to either transfer out of LIM and do something totally different and people that went for fashion and whatever school that had to go BACK to school to get a more practical degree. I do encourage you to go after your dreams but ALWAYS have a back up plan

iseewhatudidthere i have to admire her hustle. she's applied for internships, she has applied to everything you can apply for within her 'scope'. the fact of it, is, there simply aren't lots of jobs all lined up for folks to dress and style other people or work in magazines. she offered to do a style column in our local gossip rag for free - no takers. she can't even get a managerial position. but since y'all don't know me, i will also add that she isn't particularly attractive and is also badly built. i think that since that field is so visual, it's just not going to be a match made in heaven. op are you cute? cute, in certain fields, sometimes outweighs a good school or a degree. if you are above an 8 let me know, i may amend my first response.
