lol I don't eat pork chops/pork, but they/it taste good with a brandy or whiskey or applejack based brine.  I do that sometimes if I'm making them for others who are not opposed to alcohol.

grits too? Tell me more? What do you drain them in/on?

I had to stop eating grits because of all the 'brown particles' in them recently. Grits didn't used to be like thatLOL. I know it won't hurt me to eat some stray bug body parts, but I just can't eat stuff that don't look rightLOL

I don't scrub riceLOL but I do rinse. usually in a colander or a bowl.  I find that the rice cooks up fluffier when drain it doesn't have that nasty coating/skin on the top if you're one of those to boil the rice all the way down in the pot.
