Nadia, that wig is so natural looking.
To answer OP, I think it depends on the kind of wig. I don't think there's a stigma with a well made or custom lacefront or full lace wigs, cuz if its made well, no one should think its a wig anyway. I've complimented some, and have been surprised to hear it was a wig.
I hardly ever find ones sold in BSS natural looking or believable, but even they serve their purpose.
I've never purchased a lacefront or lace wig because I'm scared it'll look horrible, and I just feel more secure with sew-ins.
I did go thru this weird half wig obsession some years back tho.

I personally see nothing wrong with them as long as they're not obvious or snatchable. I don't know when's the last time I actually sewed hair in. Sometime last summer. Won't do it again.

Nope. But bad wigs (like bad weaves) get more attention by others.

IMO unkept hair, overly wiggish hair and poor weave/lf applications all have the same amount of disapproval from me

That's a good question. I know I have never thought differently of anyone or felt any kind of way when I found out they wore one. I'm with Tbaby, unkempt hair makes me uncomfortable for the person but who really cares. I think a lot of stigma comes from within. I haven't worn wigs or weaves in years but when I did, the only time I felt stigmatized was when I felt insecure.

ITA. I know my personal stigma about wigs is starting change. I am currently transitioning from relaxed to natural and wigs are a great protective style for me. I had to ease into it though. I started wearing them with hats, now I wear them without a care. I change them up with my outfits. I don't even take them that seriously and some of them have been mistaken for my own hair. So I think it is all about how you rock them and carry yourself. I know what my goal is underneath the wig, so it does not bother me what people think.
