Do closures have an age limit? I've been interested in wearing closures. I have watched many tutorials on YouTube on installs, but I only see grown women. I never see teens or 20-21 year olds installing closures.
What age do you think closures have a limit? Are they too wiggy for teens to wear?
I'm 17 btw and I'm scared that people will think i'm crazy for wearing a closure. Dead

All opinions are welcome! Smile

I think most young girls are not wearing closures for several reasons.

1. They are not knowledgeable about closures and it's benefits. (Protective style, no leave out = no heat damage)

2. If they are funding their hairstyle themselves it's an extra expense that they may not to be able to afford. It also cost to maintain it (getting it readjusted every so often when the front braid grows out)

3. closures aren't for everybody, depending on how it's installed it may look fake and unflattering which can steer people away from trying it

That's one reason why I'm scared, I don't want it to look like a wig, but I want to leave as little hair out :(

My friend has one and shes a year older than you, it looks good
But from my experience i haven't worn one but I would reallly like to try one now seeing how good it looks on my mom and want to minimize the damage to my hair but I'm still debating.

Lord  I forget its babies on this site, unless they are self installing the added expense of closures might be the reason. When I drop my lil cousin off at the $50 weave shop most girls her age opt for whats included in that $50 which is a weave with a leaveout.

She is 19....

You need to read BHM topics to began . Do you have enough hair to cover tracks in the front ? Leave closures alone until you are older and wiser . I notice young ladies with black /white glue all around the temple area with bald spots.

Learn the basics on taking care of your natural hair and installs . You join the right site to learn great info on how to retain healthy hair and nice weaves . Take the time to research for free .

as long as it has a natural look and u take good care of ur own hair then u shld be fine... IMO some closures look a little wiggish so i dnt wear them w/ my sew-ins... Wink

The non 18ish crowd has also learned no matter how much heat spray you do leaveout sooner or later will need life support work and if a closure and some work, coin and sorcery is needed to achieve that its more important .

No one is fooling anyone with 4 bundles of light yaki bodywave in 20+ so I really dont get the wig shade, is a weave more acceptable than a wig???

Just wondering

Personally I don't think they do. I had a young mom so I've been wearing weave since I was 7'ish maybe so I probably have a different opinion than others. I think wearing a full sew in with a closure is healthier for the hair, I never have a leave out.

Also everyone isn't up on closures and they can be expensive which may explain why a lot of younger people don't wear them.
