If you think you may want to return to that job, it's best to give a two week notice.
I don't like to burn career bridged, especially in our current job climate.

Did they take her check because unaccrued paid time off? I know some employers have the PTO program where they let you go in the negative (let you use more than what was accrued) but if you get laid off or quit they take the equivalent of the pto that was taken in the negative.

I hope this makes sense.

Ive given a two week notice usually a month or so in advance.

Sometimes the environment becomes too toxic after you give notice. My last employer was like that. Literally everyone who gave notice ended up leaving earlier than the 2 weeks (myself included). He had a way of being an ass to everyone and since he wasn't giving the common courtesy of kindness, people weren't interested in "doing him a solid" either.

It's great to stick it out just for that one extra check if you can, but a lot of times, it's literally not doable.

this. My last job i gave 2 weeks...I had no issues.
but I already know with my current job giving 2 week is out of the question. They expect you to stay here until the day you die. This lady left the company LAST JULY and the STILLLLLLLL talking about the fact that she left.

One time in my first year of college I needed a job and found one at Daffy's on 34th street. So I started the job and wore some Durango Boots to work tryna look all cute and stuff. No one told me those doggone boots have an expiration time of comfortable wear of 2 hours max!! So the lady training me say Suga this is your section tidy it up and make sure no clothes are on the floor.

I turned around and looked at the section like She must be out her daggone mind. Everything was piled on top of each other and she had the NERVE to tell me to color coordinate the clothesDead. I simply asked in my calm voice what time lunch was? She said 12:30. meanwhile tears are forming cos of those Debil boots. I simply asked if I can go to lunch earlier around 11am and I never returned. I called them to mail my check.

If I liked the job then yes I would give them 2 wk notice but If I didn't they would get a phone call with a massive "I QUIT" then tone.

I think you should treat a company the way they treat you. If they waited to get rid of your ass, then you can wait to leave them. Most companies fire you on the spot.
