While no one has ever said this to me before, I agree with her. You're not allowed to be confident if you don't fit certain standards of beauty...usually white standards. They're not asking "where do you get your confidence?"; they're asking "why are you confident?"

Just like Quvenzhané Wallis...the nerve of a young black girl being confident -_-

But everybody needs confidence and inspiration. It's an obvious question for any successful person who exudes confidence

I don't know, it seems like she is over thinking it.  In fact, it sounds like a response a person who is insecure with her would say.  Take it as a compliment, not an insult.

Looking too deep into it, IMO. The question is just that. "Where do you get your confidence?" I'm sure that some people are asking the question with underlying meaning but I'm sure most genuinely want to know what she does to boost her confidence.

hmm i always thought ppl asked that because so many ppl have low self esteem.  We live in a society where it's expected to put yourself down to be "humble" have "humility" So when someone is not a debby downer about themseleves ppl are taken aback

eta: typo
I'm confused by this POV. I don't know the lady in OP, but is she supposed to be ashamed of something?Confused
Is she a prostitute? Criminal? Murderer? Heaux? extra slow?
Is self-confidence abnormal?Confused
Or are people normally low in self-confidence that they genuinely want to know how/why SHE is so confident (and then maybe help themselves in that manner)?

If this is the case, (mind you, I don't know the OP) then maybe, it could also be the "confidence" that shares a fine line with arrogance. For those who know her, does she come off as arrogant?
