Django Unchained: Selling Slaves as Action Figures

There's a petition on change.org and this was in the overview

To have created a movie that depicts aspects of the Holocaust that was the Slave Trade in the United States, is one thing. To diminish black slaves by selling them as "action figures" is abominable, at best, and a slap in the face to black people in fact. No screenwriter would DARE sell action figures of Jewish Holocaust victims in any market without a strong, unified response from all persons of good will. This should not be any different.

Exactly. It's not faux outrage to think it's wrong to ask white america not trivialize slavery and stray further from addressing the significance an impact that time period has on an entire race.

A gun toting slave fighting for his wife? It's too upsetting for them to truly acknowledge slavery so they decide to parody it into something they are entertained by. No thanks.

but the seriousness of slavery isn't avoided in the movie. it is actually confronted head on IMO. whatever, im not here to convince anyone to watch a movie or vise versa.  that's why movies are created. some will attract others. others will not. c'est la vie. but to try to insinuate that those who see it have less self worth or are sell outs as blacks or have no sense of history or the gravity of slavery is----an untruth.
