Did I really read this right? Don't know what they did wrong? Half assed apology? It's over?
You didn't have to put hands on them but you still should have let them know that sh*t like that will not fly with you. That was very disrespectful and it will happen again bc they have that confirmation that you will not at least put them in their place.
Furthermore, you would have to be out of your mind to continue to reside there with them after this. I just hope you learn to stand up for yourself soon. People will stay pushing you if you let them..
Those lily whites will try it with the right one and they will think they are about to meet their maker by the time that person is done with them.

TBH, the last time this ever happened to me, I was in high school. The teacher let the guy get away with calling me out of my name and I swore I would NEVER let that happen to me again. When it did, I molly-whooped the guy. If I hear that word coming out of anyone's mouth, I may not always have that extreme reaction, but I will be very sure they watch their mouths around me.

OP, you must realize if you continue in this friendship, or any relationship like it, that you will be blamed for whatever happens to you. A racist always has a black friend that either tacitly or openly cosigns whatever foolishness comes out of said racist's mouth, and by remaining their friend that will be you. They can always point to you and say, "If I were a racist, then why would Journey be our friend? Huh? HUH?" And people will look at you and wonder how you can let that happen to you. You are giving quiet consent to their disrespect.
Granted, you don't have to curse them out, beat them up, dress them down to let them know. But if you choose to stay there (and that's your choice to make), then you'll have to be able to stand up for yourself and, AT LEAST, speak your piece. You know who you're living with so the rest is up to you.
