So pattigurl, are you implying that, like the Mammy character, Jamie Foxx's role is damaging to black people? I don't want to assume that's what you're saying but could you please elaborate?

I think that we shouldn't continually allow white people to translate our history through their eyes. That in itself is damaging. Fiction or non-fiction.

And worse, give them praise for being inauthentic while they take personal joy in using racist comments. Makes me sick.

Pattigurl made her point very clear and I totally understand where she's coming from. I'm not in the business of diminishing someone's opinion especially when it comes to race relations.

Lee should stick with doing documentaries/mockumentaries for now on

Although his films are not as "entertaining" as other filmmakers, there's a certain level of dignity given to Black people in Spike Lee's films that have been unrivaled
