YAY!!!! I am so in!!! This is perfect for me...I am actually challenging myself to keep braids in from Dec 11-Dec 12...and in March I was taking a "relax" break bc that is when my nect relaxer is due...anywho I am so in...I am working on a regimen and researching care for braids bc I have not had any since starting my HHJ.

I am scraping SL..... by March I hope to be Collar bone length :-)

i'm getting my braids in this weekend which will be december 3. i plan on getting them redone every month until saturday march 3.
and if anyone has any good advice on how often i should get my edges and the front redone, i'd appreciate it Smile

regimen -
- wash and deep condition hair every week or every two weeks (not sure yet) with organix shampoo & conditioner
- spray my homemade moisturizing spray every morning and night
(if hair seems to get too much moisture, then every morning before i go out into the cold)
- apply softnfreenpretty grohealthy olive oil cream once a week to soften new growth
(i'm only fourteen so i still use some kids products)
- if the weather gets REALLY COLD, then use the baggying method overnight to lock in moisture.

i've been transitioning since august and i have an inch of new growth in some places and a little over an inch in other places. hopefully by march i have another inch and a half Thumbs Up

Hi ladies! I want to join the challenge.  I am a soon to be college grad (10 days to be exact Big smile) and I am transitioning for the second time.  I will be starting a four month internship on a military base and I really don't want to manipulate that much, so braids seem to be the answer.  I usually use synthetic hair for my braids (or yarn LOL) but I want it to last long and look professional.  I want to use human hair, but I really don't want to spend like $50 for a pack.  I was thinking more of the $20-$40 range...

Is there a particular brand I should get?  I've been looking up "yaki human braid hair" and none of the popular beauty supply sites that I usually shop for come up in the first few pages.  Is there a reputable site you recommend.  I really don't want to go to my local beauty supply because they like to jack up the prices lol!

how are you guys keeping your braids looking good? i've had mine for about three weeks and lets just say i MUST wear a hat when going out in public because the roots look crazy!

my mother bought a silky kind of hair this time and it was our first time using it and i strongly believe that had something to do with it because when i usually buy the kinkier type of hair, the roots dont start to look crazy until at least about 5-6 weeks. another reason is because my hair REFUSES to stay wrapped up at night. how do you guys do it? every single way i try to wrap it, it won't stay! i try a different way every night and nothing seems to work! Unhappy

I'm actually gettin my braids done as I type this...

Current: APL
Goal: MBL (by summer)

Plan: keep these in until the end of April. Take a week or two break and after a trim, dc, and protein treatment, go back into braids through the summer.

Will post pics of these once they're done!
