The hair on the back of my hair is refusing to grow no matter what growth aids I take orally or topically. I've had ZERO growth in this section for over 3 years!

Has anyone else experienced this?

yes... I have dead hair follicles around my edges... nothing really can be done about it if they are in fact dead....

are you sure yours are dead?

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. It's the lack of growth that is worrying me. I know some people experience slow growth, but this is ridiculous. I have a little fuzz in the area, but that's about it.

I've spoken to others about this and they think perhaps that may be the cause.

Passion Fruit how do you know for sure that they are dead?

I would say that if you have fuzz, and the fuzz never falls out, they aren't dead. That is if you believe in terminal length. If the follicles are dead, once their hairs reach their terminal length and fall out, there would never be more growth in those areas.
Maybe you should see a dermatologist to determine the viablilty of those follices. Your scalp could just need tlc and babying in those areas.

Hey Girls1, I saw a dermatologist and he prescribed Rogaine for Men (the shame when the BF saw  it LOL), but I haven't seen any results thus far and I am now on my second bottle. Done the whole vits thing too.

Based on your response it does sound like there is still hope. I might try another blood test cos even though my previous was ok, something most definitely is not.

I saw a trichologist a few weeks ago. My temples just have peach fuzz. I thought the follicles might be dead but she said they're still alive, they just need stimulation. I spent months buying crap that didn't work while not knowing the state of my hair for sure. All I know is of you're having hair problems instead of wasting money on a buncha products that aren't working. Spend the money to see the trichologist. You'll most likely spend that much in wasted products anyway. Alteast you'll know the state of your hair health and treat it accordingly.

Try massaging there with a few drops of rosemary oil diluted in a carrier oil such as castor, olive oil etc.

Thanks for the tips ladies.

Guyanesesista - My dermatologist is not due to see me til November so he can check up on my scalp. After that stage then I'll probably see a tricologist.

I have a similar problem with my edges....they are thick then when I first started but some areas are still completely bare after 2years.  My understandins is if they are dead...the only thing that can reverse or cure it is a hair transplant from a thicker section of your hair.  But that is expensive.

Hey E-Lo. I don't know how long it takes Rogaine to work , maybe you need more time? But if you have a little growth maybe stimulation is your best bet. I lilke the idea about the diluted essential oil.
