Haitians are not a "tribe". We're from different tribes from all over the African continent, just like AA's. So to say that haitians have a look and jamaicans have another look doesn't make any damn sense. What's racist is a lot of AA's assumptions of what haitians are supposed to look like. It kinda get on my nerves. There's a reason all these artists are "in the closet", like someone stated earlier and that they would feel that they have to hide their ethniticity to make it just pisses me the hell off. | You're getting extra defensive when there is no need. No one has insulted Haitians or their looks. Yes, there is a general look that all ethnic groups have, so what makes Haitians any different? I'm sorry but some of y'all sound insecure af about this

Anyway though, calm down Jolie, we didnt say anything negative. We asked about a certain eye shape we noticed...

That eye shape is kinda in your head. But you're right about me needing to calm down. I've had nothing but idiotic comments thrown at me all day today. I have this white colleage who's married to a very light skinned haitian woman who looks latina and he was talking about how her kids from her previous relationship caught the black. He didn't even realize what he said was insulting. I was fuming. His damn wife is probably a coon too. |
OMG things like this make me sooooooooooo sad. My friend had a baby with a white girl and she keeps making comments on facebook like I hope the baby doesn't get he's dark skin or he's wide nose I already been through so much and pointing out the one month olds straight hair. I really get soo sad. My friend is this beautiful dark, strong black man smh. Even her friends made a comment saying good, it looks like she's not taking to her daddy's color"

I do not have round eyes. Nor does anyone in my family that I can think of.
| that's a horrible comparison. It makes you sound extra touchy and insecure to compare saying that one group has large eyes to saying another group is uneducated and speaks like a slave. I mean, really [insert eye roll]

Honestly it's messy because our sertain look can go either way. I grew up in a time where being haitian was NO GOOD. Plus I grew up around Dominicans. Yes haitians tend to have stronger african features only because we becasme our own nation fast so there wasn't as much race mixing as other islands
