Hello Ladies! Today I bought Dabur Amla Oil from my local Indian store and I just want to know your thoughts and experiences with this oil (I was always curious about this besides it containing mineral oil). How do u use it? Do you use this oil as a pre-poo or just an oil to 'nourish' your scalp and hair with? What  are the benefits and results from this oil? Any thoughts...? TIA

I have the Dabur version & several others.

1. I use it to seal moisture
2. Use it as a pre-poo
3. Use as a mix in my deep conditioner masks
4. When I use to relax, I mixed it in with my ORS Lye

Results effects:
1. My hair feels stronger
2. The oil absorbs well, leaving hair shiny but never greasy
3. I swear its made my hair darker.
4. It added to the conditioning oild of the relaxer and prevented further damage.

Thank You. I see you use this oil for just about everything. I'm doing the same. Your hair in your avi looks sooo thick and shiny. I hope to get results like yours. I've only been using this for a week so far.

I have tried it but didn't use it long enough because it has a strong smell.

Hi, I used to use the Dabur but I stopped because of the mineral oil.  Now I buy the pure amla oil.  It comes in a glass bottle and goes cloudy and hardens if you leave it in the fridge.  I used it a lot when I had locs to do my hot oil treatments and I have to say it really did contribute to some fantastic growth!  I bought it from my local Indian shop after my friend (who's Indian) recommended it.  She said that a lot of Indian women would coat their hair in amla and leave it on all day to nourish it.  My friends hair is soooo thick and shiney I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and it was only 1.99 for a BIG bottle of the stuff.  Only thing is, the stuff stinks!  I only used it if I had nowhere to go that day.

^. I'm gonna have to look into purchasing 'pure' amla oil. I hate the fact that Dabur Amla Oil does contain mineral oil but my hair seems to be okay with it.

Since I've been using this my hair seems a little stronger and I do have less breakage which is a 'great' thing.

yeah i went into an indian shop about 10 years ago and asked them about it they recommended it to me but i found it too greasy then again i didn't know much about hair back then and lathered stuff on my hair but indian hair is different to our so may work for some who may have straighter hair textures

i used it when i was transitioning, i used it to seal and alternated between amla and evoo for prepoos and oil rinses. i didnt think it darkened my hair that much (i have black hair already but i dye it blue black cause im paranoid lol) but i do think my hair was stronger, i didnt really lose alot of hair that year and it was my 1st year away at school.
