Well I guess it depends on how one would define "conscious hip-hop".

what is your definition?  what artists do you think fall into this category?
Well...I don't know lol.

I like songs that have some sort of message to it. I think most artists are capable of making a conscious record, but unfortunately many choose not to. So its hard for me to say who is considered a conscious artist. I just like a literate nicca with lyrical skills *shrug*. Unfortunately I've become immune to the n-word in songsSleepy.
But as long as the song don't have an ample amount of gunshots, sirens and jail door closing in the background...I'm good.

I don't care about all that.
I just hate when people get lyrics wrong.

Lupe has this song that goes

White people...you can't say nicca. sorry gotta take it back...
Black people...where's my niccas, cuz God made us better than that...

i think it's ass backwards.

But I don't expect to hear it less, I expect to hear it in a different context

It's "we're not nigguhs, cause God made us better than that." Smh.

ETA: I don't care about the usage of the word.

not that invested

Ooh those rappers... I expect them not to use it as much but I know they'll drop in the word once in a while. Still don't like it though
