But honestly, I don't think what you're doing is wrong at all, but I think it's one of those things where you have to be smart enough (which you are) to know not to tell the current if you want it to continue. Of course, as you said the current would be upset, and it's easy to put yourself in his shoes and see why; but, at the same time.. YOU know it's innocent etc, and so I say keep on, but keep quiet.
