I gave up on valentines day a long time ago. Maybe because its so close to my birthday anyway so it really never bothered me if I had a date

yeah I usually dont care for this but for me it was just a passing thought. Thats part of the reason my valentines was bad last year, I wasnt feeling it for 2 reasons. 1.It was my first time having a bf on valentines day so i wasnt sure what i was supposed to do/how i was supposed to act 2. My bf didnt "love" me so i figured there was no point celebrating something that was one sided So when he txt me Happy Valentines Day that morning I txtd back "I'd say it back but i'm not really into valentines day like that" And he threw the biggest b*tch fit about it, like i had slapped his mother and burned his house down. I was thoroughly confused, like, you said you didnt love me/wasnt in love with me so why are you so pressed over a day that celebrates something you dont even feel for the person you're with. I even pointed out that his plans wouldnt go to waste because my birthday was right around the corner and to calm tf down

That's how I feel, sometimes with people I'm already friends with. I don't even bother any more. |
It's worse when you're awkward around people you're already friends (or friendly) with. You expect to be passed that stage of awkwardness. I feel bad because I actually try. I make the effort, but I always feel stupid in the end. |
awww, I used to be like this with my friends the first couple years of our friendship. Do you feel nervous around them? Do you not trust them with personal information? How long have you been friends?
Sorry about all he questions

I don't have too many friends. I guess for all of them, we've been friendly since our freshman and sophomore years in college. (I'm a first year graduate student now). So I'd say, approximately 4 years. It's not that I feel nervous. I don't feel a connection or that we relate. Our conversations are usually, my asking a bunch of questions (basic, non-intrusive questions) or us sitting in an awkward silence. No, I've never told any of them about my serious personal information. They know the basics (parent's names, where I live, etc) but they don't know anything serious.

I know how you feel. I usually stay quiet during group conversations either for fear of saying something to make myself look dumb or because people tend to talk over me like I'm not there when I do try to give my input in conversations. I doubt that's what you meant though. As far as sharing your issues with other people don't feel bad about not being able to share them with others. People these never forget. They always throw things in your face when they get pissed.

I hope I don't share any classes or run into my ex-crush. I don't want to be rude, but I don't want to fall back into the mental trap.

hmm, do you feel like they cant help you with your issues or that they will judge? And hun, please dont take this the wrong way i'm genuinely curious but: why in the world are you friends with them if you dont feel a connection with them? Are they just "good time" friends? Were they a group together and then you joined in, like the new kid syndrome?

Sometimes when having solo relations...I think of myself doing it to myself.
