When me and my litter sister shaved our heads my Dad complimented us so much.
I loved that.

Even when my little sister shaved her head and it took awhile for my mother to warm up to it ( she eventually loved it) my dad kept telling her how beautiful she looked and they would go get their hair cut together lol.

I appreciated that a lot.

He loved my natural hair .
In total I've gotten nice compliments from black men about my hair.

I'm not gonna lie though I didn't know what to do with my stepdaughters hair when I had to do it. She has extremely thick 4c hair. It was a little intimidating because I was used to relaxed hair. I just stuck with cornrows or puffs. But after learning more about natural hair I have learned how to care for her hair. I do twists, twist outs, flat twists, braids, fro hawks all types of cute styles now.

My friend's dad forbade his wife from relaxing my besties hair. she told me that he said don't put that poison in my daughter's hair which is why she has a weird association with relaxers. But as a compromise they straighten her hair so it has lost a lot of texture. Still really thick, but not as curly.

I don't remember getting a relaxer. I just remember having hair one day and not having it the next. I hateeeed relaxers. It was like a time of the month type thing. So happy I'm done with them and my hair is past my bra strap.

But in reference to the topic I have definitely had black men say to my face they don't like my hair. Especially when I was just staring out my hair journey, my friend's ex-boyfriend kept telling me I would be a different woman if I straighten it whatever that means Confused. My SO at the time was positive, but I think he was just happy I stopped wearing weaves.

But as it got longer, that's when I started receiving compliments and now random people tell me how nice my hair is, mainly white folks.

My cousin went natural before me and her dad asked her if she is gay. Confused.
