That doesn't mean he couldn't have sent her a ticket or gotten her a room. The writer wasn't able to get to the girl either--so what more did she do than the friend could have?

I know someone who went thru this with a rapper.
She really was golddigging, but she called herself spending her own money so he would think she wasn't after his pockets. She even showed up to a pool party that his friends were throwing with bottles that they'd requested and weed she paid for outta pocket.
Next thing you know, she saw on some blog that he was in Miami and didn't even bother to tell her. She called and texted him about getting into the party he was hosting on the beach that night, and he never even bothered to respond. She never heard from his ass again.

So she got played?? Hell I don't spend my money on a broke niglet let only a rich one. I guess these guys with money are using their head.

She did get a room. She probably needed a ride. Have you ever been stranded in another city asking for help? The logistics aint that easy depending on the situation. You can have money, but you have to be able to get the money to the person who needed it. I can see him calling a local friend asking her to pick her up, that way they'd have more time to figure out what to do, and all the money can be spent getting her back home. My sister was stuck in an airport in detroit. It doesn't really work saying,"Hi cab driver, I am in PA, but can you charge my card?"

True,
however, this wasn't some bum on twitter posting random tweets. This
was Black Sports Online and then syndicated (reposted) by Nicole Bitchie
which is a somewhat respected blog in the urban community. I'm just a
little surprised that someone who probably considers themselves a
serious journalist would write such a slanted piece like this without
even attempting to get the other side of the story. Again, for
all we know this chick could have been catfished. No journalist worth
their salt would want to let themselves get suckered into a scam story
like that.

Also, I don't care how busy the man is during the season. Been there, done that. It aint no thang for an NFL'er to fly you up for a quick weekend kick it session. 5 months with no time spent? Nope, nope, nope.
