I am about to make some clip ins. I want to have a layered effect so I plan to purchase 22', 18', and 14 inches. Is this a good amount of difference or is it too much? TIA!

Hey lady, long time no hearTongue

Back in my relaxed days I made my own clip-ins with some beauty supply store hair (Cuticle Remy XQ). I only made 3 long tracks which were about 16 inches (although the box I purchased was 14").

I think for now you can stick with the measurements you have...you can always trim to your likening later on...

Hey stranger! I have been so busy, I have had it in braids and twists for the past six months. But with work and home, finding time to braid is hard.....and i can't wear my natural hair out. I won't be
relaxing, but I'll either press or flat iron. I need to head over to talk. ... your posts make my day.

i made clip ins w/ 16" italian yaki hair...i made about 4 6"-8" wide clips ins, but i doubled the track. i made 2 4" wide clips to fill out my side bangs.

you'll find that with clip ins, layering is a little easier if the clip ins are somewhere in your length zone (my real hair is abt 12" stretched, so with 16" clips i get a natural layering effect).

if the lengths are way longer than your own, i actually suggest just getting the 18" and 22" and just cutting the pieces. as you put in the clips further towards your hair line, the hair will naturally layer. you'll only really need shorter length pieces for the front of your hair if you want a seamless blend.

hope that helped!
