    Posted: Feb 06 2008 at 11:49am

I relaxed 2/2/08 after a 12 weeks stretch....
My hair feels very limp and coated....
It is not responding to any of my products....

I need to clarify.....how long should I wait....It has not even been a week since my relaxer.....I don't want to mess up anything

Any advice will help

I clarify within the next 3 days after a relaxer to get rid of any chemical traces that still may be deposited from my relaxers. It didn't seem to affect the outcome of my newly relaxed roots in anyway.

I heard from someone that you should clarify like 5-7 days before a relaxer?

no...dont clarify before a relaxer, it will irritate your scalp and causes burning. i reccomend you CHELATE after a relaxer, especially if its no lye, that will remove mineral depositis in your hair. you can do this right after you relax or whenever you deem necessary (it WONT cause reversion)

I am so confused. I've reached my lenght by "not doing" much to my hair, but I'm noticing it needs something. I'm 18 (almost 19) weeks post relaxer and want to go a couple of months more...trying to wait for the second trimester.

I'm having terrible buildup on my scalp. It's like a layer of oil and dandruf. My hair is naturally oily and I don't wash it as often as I should.

I want to start a weekly routine, but am not sure what I need and what to use.

To get rid of this oil buildup, do I need a clarifying shampoo?

I heard that you should clarifly like a week before a relaxer, it supposed to make the relaxer "take" better. If your hair has product buildup, the relaxer wont straighten as well.

Definitely...a clarifying shampoo is needed at this point. I love V05's Tea Therapy vanilla mint clarifying shampoo...it was only a dollar but it works wonders!! Smells great too!!!Smile

Hey...has anybody ever used a clarifying conditioner? If so, how does it work and what does it do?Confused
