Are any of you involved in church ministry activities? How had your experience been so far? Would you advise a person to not get deeper involved in ministries? Any great stories? Any bad stories? Share your experiences

To me its a no brainer.....why join a church if you have no intent on serving in a ministry?

...but I also grew up in a household where my father was a deacon and all of my extend family was raised in the church and held various positions. We side eye people who claim to be members of church but not involved in anything. lol...

Just about all of parents close family friends were people we went to church with. Because we lived out of state from my parents' families...those people are like aunts and uncles to me. Their kids and I are very close. If you are new to an area...its a great way to meet people and feel like their are people who will look out for you.

I believe there is a ministry for everyone. You may not be good at working with the youth and being an usher may be too much a time commitment for you...but something as simple as being on the outreach team that volunteers to feed the homeless or if you're great a writing you could serve on the communications team.

Also being in a ministry can make a church seem smaller if your church has a lot of members.

Agreeing with this especially the bolded.  So yeah, every church I've gone to, I have participated.  It's weird to just show up and go home.  I can see why some people don't get involved but I like to feel like I'm part of the community.

What do you mean get involved in the ministry? Like do you mean telling people to get right with God? What do you mean and What's a church flow? I go to listen to the choir and give tithe.

I mean joining groups within the church and participating in the events. For example, the youth group and going on trips with them.

Go as far as you want. You won't get any more out of it then you put in

But expect them to make you an officer if you come often enough

I was supposed to be involved with the children's ministry but one day I taught Sunday school hungover and decided that I wasn't ready to be fully committed to that holy life. I saw half of the congregation at the club the previous night as well.
