In Leviticus and other parts of the bible it talkes about how one should not "mark" their bodies. I just feel a little hesitant about getting it cause it's like I want to get closer to God but I will be getting a tattoo, it almost seems contradictory. I could be wrong of course. This is one of the reasons I'm not having sex till I'm married. If I'm trying to get closer to my Lord it wouldnt make sense to be fornicating ( even though I've been a virginLOL).

I hope someone comes with the explanation but it also says , do not cut your beard, do not eat meat that has not been drained, do not trim the hair off your temples.. I am the lord.
I do all of this .. except the beard.. i dont have one LOL

Leviticus 19:28 "And YOU must not make cuts in YOUR flesh for a deceased soul, and YOU must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves. I am Jehovah." I think that scripture is pretty clear. You'll most likely grow out of the phase of wanting a tattoo, I know I did.

It also seems you already know what you shouldn't do. Then you state where you have Clearly read where it says not to "mark" your body. Are you going to ignore what you read because you want it that badly?  Listen to your conscious because it seems that you have a good one and you're already feeling guilty. There are several scriptures that say the body shouldn't be marked with tattoo.

Its possible I might. I'm waiting for a while to get it because a tattoo is for life. I'm planning to do it for my bday which is in November if I still want it.

This sounds like a cultural practice to me.  I doubt anyone at the local tattoo shop is going to do any chanting when applying a tattoo.

Now, as a receiver, I did do a couple of chants.  Mostly, "Sh*t!" and "Dammithurryup!"

I was waiting on this verse.

The thing with me is....

The deceased soul part.

"...must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves...."

Is the latter for a deceased soul as well?

I thought that was the only one.
