I've been on a cruise with my children (1st time only once), at the time they were 11 & 13. I am over protective, but I also knew they'd want to enjoy some freedom with the other family members who went on the cruise too. So I got walkie talkies and they'd have to carry them & I had access to them whenver I wanted. As far as the room, I got the very basic room, in the belly of the boat, the rooms are very very small. So if you can afford the larger room, I'd say get it.

Also if you google "first time cruisers questions" you might be able to find some answers. You're not the only one with angst about going on a cruise. Good Luck!

LOL I'm terrified of bed bugs too and thoroughly checked my bed when I got on

Tell the drinkers to sneak their liquor on before they fool around and run up a $500 tab EACH on drinks. We researched a few good ways to get it on and barely spent any money on the watery drinks on the cruise Cool

SO, I'm thinking $1000 isn't a lot for y'alls budget if you're even considering this as an option LOL... but still, I would even tell a very wealthy person dont do it (for the reason of getting to skip the line).  I would check out the difference in sq ft and make the decision based on that if you have the extra money. AND call Carnival's customer service and question them. Don't listen to coco  .. they have chocolate covered strawberries for sale by the casino and theyre not terribly expensive LOL yall bougie..

We didn't have to wait in any type of long line for embarkation, because they do it over a few hours (ex. boarding might be from like 12-3.. and we got there at 3 ).

For disembarkation, ours got delayed for some hours due to fog Ouch.. so of course everyone was ready to get off ASAP. It wasn't particularly fun, but I wouldn't pay more than like $40 to avoid that experience... and I assume when everything goes as scheduled, it would go much more smoothly

Greenttby this site has some great info, with pictures, pros & cons about each room. Maybe this will help you too?

This is seriously GREAT advice regardless if you have children or not. You canT use your cell phones on the cruise (well.. if youre bout that INTL charge life you can) and even with friends, it would have been so much easier had we had a way to communicate where we were. I said on the next one I was going to bring a bunch and rent them out to group for a large fee lol

And definitely google first time cruisers. I did a lot of research, compiled a list of things to bring along with explanations, and sent it to everyone in the group. The girl who chose not to read it was mad she didn't have the cool/useful stuff we brought

Bring an extension cord/power strip!!

im not bougie.
i agree with you if its ONLY about the disembarkation (which doesnt even take very long most of the time)

but i really think there is a considerable difference in the room…
I've had a large room once (but idk what the title of it was.. or if it was carnival) and I've been in there a few different times (like other ppls big rooms).. they're actually kinda spacious.. they're different like they have granite

Now, what I WOULD pay an upgrade fee for is a different bathroom. That bathroom we had did something to my soul each time I used it Cry

LOLOL Coco, please tell me you're joking. You knew it was charging you?? It was hard to be without the internet... no lie.

I was about to post the message I sent to my friends regarding what to bring on the cruise, but I dont need yall judging me cause it can come off rude if you dont know me LOL.. so I'll just say make sure you bring a lanyard and a large cup with a top.

not joking Ouch

i thought i was using an app that made calls way less or free when I'm connected to wifi.. my phone almost never worked on the actual ship but i talked when i got off.. and i bought wifi on the ship.. but like half of that went to waste cus i didnt log off right Ermm

i knew my phone bill would be a lot though cus there were times i wasnt on wifi.. but i didnt think it would be that much.. maybe half.
i don't think the app worked at all though. maybe it was a domestic thing.. i was mad AF

lol i probably wouldn't think much of your message.. i come off sounding rude too.. especially to friends
i don't get it though (lanyard)
