Does anyone have a mentor or acts as a mentor to others?

Any tips on building professional networks and developing a relationship with a mentor?

Can't cosign this enough.

Also, sometimes its helpful to do informational interviews. People love talking about themselves, it's a good way to make connections.

All of my professional mentors are white women and one asian man

There's no black women in my department at school. And the one black woman I met during my internship has a stick up her ass. She's extremely rude. I would love to link up with someone who looks like me

I wish this thread had gotten more answers...
Here are a couple threads I found on the same topic"

Who has a mentor?

Male Mentors for Women (LSA)

You could check if your college has a mentorship matching program for alumni and networking events.

If you live near MIT, it offers a mentorship program:

and here is info to become a member (only members can be matched with a mentor):

I think one of the misconceptions is that your mentors need to be black.  If they're nice and open to it, sure.  But if not, you gotta find someone who is willing to help you grow.
