I never understood why Adele , Lisa Stansfield are considered soul singers. Any white singer that sounds different are labeled "soul singers".

Of course, I understand. For example, Joss Stone. I think she's a nice singer but she doesn't convince me as an artist, not because shes white, but again, it's not genuine to me. Many people caterwaul like her to me and it's not something I gravitate to, regardless of skin.

It's all a bad misconception. Just like how Chris Brown is considered R&B because he is black. Horrible misconception.

I think Adele and Lisa are amazing artists. I think they both have soulful voices, particularly Adele, however she's not really a soul singer pursay.

That's fair. I understand your view. May I know who you consider great soul singers/personal favorites?

To be honest, regardless of race, there are very few people who convince me soulfully as artists except for the artist in the second link)
