I feel like I may know the answer to this already. But I just purchased a blonde wig for halloween...and it hurt my soul to spend that $$ on it Ouch. Is there a way to change the color that wont damage the hair?

It is not recommended that you dye synthetic hair. I have read somewhere on this site that you can color a synthetic wig with RIT dye, as this is used for fabrics. HTH

You need this type of ink. http://www.sausageblick.com/zz211/07/
You should be able to find it in craft stores. You might want to try mixing them for a custom color instead of just using one of the colors they have.

SYNTHETIC HAIR COLORING--
TO MODIFY THE COLOR ON A SYNTHETIC WIG:

Synthetic hair is made from fine plastic filaments, which are smooth on the surface and, therefore, unable to accept permanent coloring products designed for use on human hair. A color rinse, such as Roux Fancifull, may be used to change the tone slightly on light colored synthetic wigs. Best results are obtained by pouring the color rinse into a small, plastic spray bottle with a fine mist and mist the wig evenly all over, being careful not to oversaturate as the rinse will drip and be wasted. Do not rinse. Let wig dry overnight. A second or third misting may be used if color has not reached the desired tone. Repeat instructions.

For better results, a liquid fabric dye, such as Rit or Tintex, may be used to darken the color on synthetic wigs. (There is no way to lighten synthetic fiber.) Dissolve 4 oz. dye in 1 gallon (128 oz.) warm water, and immerse wig. Let process until desired color is reached. Then follow instructions on care sheet for washing and conditioning.

After coloring on a synthetic, I recommend that you use our Fibre Oil Conditioner before styling. We have this product available in the Wet Products section on our site.

I know how you could dye that wig black or a dark dark brown color, rather. More of a mix of the two..

WHAT YOU NEED::
-5 Sharpies [could use less, but this is to be safe]
-Rubbing Alcohol
-A spray bottle
-A bowl that u wont need anymore [best to use a small plastic bowl]
-Plastic gloves
-Newspapers [this can get MESSY!]

Make sure u lay ur newspapers down on the floor where u'll be working. Take the cartridges out of the sharpies [while wearing ur plastic gloves] and squeez all of the sharpie ink into the bowl. Mix this with a good amount of rubbing alochol. Then pour this mixture into the spray bottle. Shake, shake shake!
Make sure ur wig is layed out on the newspaper & just spray the mixure evenly all over ur wig. When the wig is completely covered, u can spray a extra layer to be safe. Just be careful because this mixture WILL STAIN [I know from experience...]. For the wig to dry, u can place it on a new layer of news paper or find somewhere SAFE to let it drip dry.
The color does fade over time but doing this on a blonde colored wig will have the hair turn dark brown &it looks hot when it fades.

I recently bought the Freetress Vanilla Girl in F2/33/130 for in-between weaves, but I think the 130 is dreadful..it looks orange! Would the powder rit dye work just as well as the liquid?
