I am re-entering my career in radio on tomorrow by introducing my show of over 8 years, OUR COMMON GROUND with Janice Graham.

You are all invited to join me in this new venture.  The show is internet talk radio and is live at http://www.ustalknetwork.com

During this month, Black History Month, I am doing a series of shows celebrating and talking about the value of knowing and passing on Black History.

I will just be hosting conversations and chats with callers and guests about how we learn most of the Black History we know; why we think Black History is important and what we think American schools need to do about ensuring all Americans have a good historical understanding about Black achievement and contributions. Or that you don't. Also, who your Black hero and shero is.

There are pressing issues as we celebrate Black History in 2009.
The question for Black adults is to ask if our children can come to love what they do not know ? How do they come to a place of dignity and pride if they do not know the journey of their people and the contributions that have been made ?  Is it enough that they know President Barak Obama, if they do not know Justice Thurgood Marshall or Senator Robert Smalls ? Do any of us think about Madame C. J. Walker when we make our purchases at the local Asian BSS ?
