Oh so now crosses have nothing to do with Christianity. That's what's up.

Uh because Christians, Catholics, and the ones who claim to be (hence the quotation marks) = the people who wear crosses. Who else does it have to do with?

There is no actual or proclaimed spiritual meaning of the sideways cross necklace. The inception of this style began with the cross bracelet which is crafted in a "sideways" or "horizontal" orientation (unless it's a hanging charm). The same design was translated to the necklace, and became a popular trend, especially once celebrities began wearing them.

As the question of "what the meaning of the sideways cross" became more prevalent, a work around came about in the style variation of the "off-centered" sideways cross necklace. With the off-centered styling the cross more-or-less falls in a vertical orientation while being worn, although it is still a sideways design. with this particular design variation, craftsmanship is an important consideration, as the weight of the cross and clasp placement have to be positioned so that the cross stays in position and the chain maintains it's loop shape.

Ah I see...so it was a natural evolution from the bracelet...it seems so strange and just feels wrong. It's like they're all a part of a cult who doesn't mind hiding their identifying mark. It freaks me out seeing all these white ladies walking around with this.

Yeah I don't see how this has anything to do with Christians as well. It seems like a case of appropriation of religious symbols. (Appropriation meaning that someone took a symbol that has meaning in another culture and made it into a prop.) Sideways crosses are more or less a fashion trend and dont seem to be worn with any religious meaning.

I don't agree that they're not being worn with any religious meaning since ppl who identify with the religion are legitimizing it by swapping out their traditional necklaces with this and even wearing it to church. It's not just a bunch of random young ppl ordering it from kitson or karmaloop for fun.

because they usually wear the cross of Christ, duh. I don't know why you're acting brand new or naive. I agree with Wonderland and Sang.

Just because YOU don't do it, does not mean its not a Christian thing

Damn, KK you're abrasive.  But I agree, the cross is synonymous with Christianity so it was not silly of Wonderland to inquire.
