the cake is part of a mothers day gift along with other things for an expecting mother.
the reason I got the cake is because its from her fav bakery. was gonna get strawberry cake, but they said they only have that if i order it in advance and i buy it as a whole cake. champagne cake was the only thing they sold in slices today. they said it was their top seller, so i got some slices.

is it safe for a pregnant woman to eat?

Normally the alcohol is evaporated during the cooking process, leaving only the flavor.  I don't see why it wouldn't be safe.

i personally wouldn't...but I don't think it would really harm her.

I've had physicians tell me it's ok to drink in moderation after a certain point, and then others say there's no safe amount.

I think it's safe. I'm sure the alcohol content is minute, like in rum cakes
