I asked my mama why she never taught me how to swim since she has medals and swimming trophies from when she was younger.
She always said it was my country backwards daddy who was afraid to let us lol and when we were older she kinda forgot.
She did teach my little sister recently and my older sis went to classes and I told her she wasted money because she didn't need classes

My dad taught me when I was little. I think it's possible to learn in a day if you really work at it. Just stay calm, don't let the water intimidate you, and know you will always float. You won't become olympic status overnight but if you practice at it hopefully you will improve your swim game.

I learned the same way . Dang Girl Scouts at the YMCA lol. I taught India to swim as a infant . Too many of our children drown every year during Summer break .

Sounds like my mom when she learned in training lol.

5 days to get the basics? How long was this course? Hopefully your teacher will grade you on effort and improvement from your first day.
