Can I master swimming in 5 days?

5 days is plenty enough time to learn how to do a lap.

The only thing you really have to "learn" is how to not be scared of water.

I was never scared of water and I don't even remember there ever being a learning process for me. Someone told me how to move my arms and legs one time at summer camp and then it was history. I didn't need lessons nor breathing exercises.

It all depends on how adventurous you are and how athletic. If you aren't somewhat in shape swimming a lap could leave you winded.

I'm dense so floating isnt super easy for me but I can do it.

I also learned to thread water in about 3 tries. First time someone threw me in and I swam back to the edge of the pool. Next couple times I hung on to the edge shimmied my way to the deep end and let go when I felt brave enough until I was able to stay afloat without fear.

Really shouldn't take more than a week to get the basics honestly.
